About Me

My name is Lucy and I am 34 years old. I have worked in care since the age of 19.

I started in Care Homes with the elderly and worked in Oxfordshire and Northern Ireland. I then had my daughter who is now 11. I worked in the catering industry and later in Administration before really wanting to go back into care when my daughter was at school full time.

Supporting the Elderly.

I have many years previous experience of working with the elderly in care homes and also in their own homes.

I really enjoy supporting the elderly, I enjoy getting to know people and I very much enjoy the conversations.

I help and support with every day activities and independence, knowing I have helped someone stay in their home and be as independent as they can be is great feeling and very much rewarding.

What is a Brain Injury?

There are 2 types of brain injury. One is a Traumatic brain injury and the other is an Acquired brain Injury.

Traumatic brain injury is caused by external force, for example: a blow to the head. An Acquired brain injury is an injury caused to the brain after birth, for example: caused by a stroke or tumor

Why do I support adults with Brain Injury?

The brain is a very complex fascinating function of the human body. There are many different ways support can be given to people who have suffered a brain injury. With the help from hospitals/physios/Social Workers, I support adults to enable them to live an independent life as possible. I enjoy supporting people in this way and I love to see improvements in people.

I am a caring, patient and trust worthy person who has compassion for others. This shows in my support work. I like to see people achieve their goals and I will work with them to work toward this.

What sort of support do I do with my clients?

The support I do with my clients is varied. One day I could be supporting with speech and reading and another I could be helping with paperwork. I also support with exercises given to clients by their physio/the hospital.

I will accompany clients to the shops and hospital appointments. I also make phone calls on your behalf if that is something that is needed or we work towards gaining your confidence to do this among other things.

I support my clients with every day living and also there for companionship. I come up with ideas on how to help improve peoples well being and learning. I like to see people gain their confidence to be independent and have the life they want.

Testimonials

"When the door bell rings and I know it's Lucy, it's as if a ray of sunshine is coming through the door. Regardless of the day I'm having, I know help and support has arrived. Lucy always makes me feel better, about whatever situation and about myself and what I can do. I can't recommend her enough and look forward to seeing her every week!"

Cristina - Client

"Lucy has been working with my daughter for over 3 years when she first came out of hospital after a stroke. She has helped her with speech, reading & writing also physio and many more day to day activities. If it wasn’t for Lucy I’m sure she wouldn’t be where she is today. I have experienced the progress of my daughter learning to say a word to her speaking complete accurate sentences & her confidence grows each week.

Lucy is professional in her approach and is full of new ideas to support the ongoing progress in my daughters recovery.

Thanks Lucy, what would we do without you!"
